Right, lets kick things off with this films:

Captain America is unsurprising ALL about America (*cough* Saving Private Ryan *cough*), beside the odd 2 or 3 non American people and the odd British flag.

The film starts with a rather intriguing Prologue set in the present day, setting up the story to come.

We are then flashed back to the 1940s, which takes up 90% of the film. Steve Rodgers is then shown as being this stereotypical America, pro-war etc, who then inevitably goes on to becoming Captain America.
Many fight scenes and Hydra deaths later, the film closes with a pretty neat but rather unnecessary present day epilogue. It was needed, yet at the same time it just didn't seem to work and was cut rather short, ala, Dark Of The Moon.
And then we got the mother of all after-credit scenes: the teaser trailer for THE AVENGERS!! Looked absolutely fantastic on the screen, even managed to spot Loki in it this time around. Bootlegged versions do not do this teaser any justice! But it does what all teasers are intended to do: get the audience hyped for the movie (which I most definitely am!). Speaking of which, while I didn't get to see The Amazing Spiderman trailer, I did however finally get to see The Dark Knight Rises trailer during the screening, and I must say, that shot of the "bat- logo" was just great to see on the big screen!

Now, onto Captain America. The build-up of the story was rather good, but the ending just felt rather anti-climatic and kinda makes you go a bit 'eh?' at Schmidt's 'death'. I'm guessing it teleported him to one of the other nine-realms, spoken of in Thor. The build up of the Red-Skull's face was similar to that of Two-Face in The Dark Knight. They did a fantastic job of making his face look great while not camp at the same time and yet stil keeping itl very iconic of the character that we all know. Hugo Weaving's performance was, as always, great, though I feel his accent could've been tweaked a little more. Pretty good villain, though a little stereotypical (Trying to take over the world, made of pure evil etc etc), all been heard before. All the gadgetry, however, all seemed very far fetched (same goes for Cap's bike; very  over the top), mostly given the era that this is set in, even if Schmidt was a 'super-genius'.

There were some nice 'little' roles from Tommy-Lee Jones, whose dry humour was just excellent, Richard Armitage, playing a rather convincing Nazi spy, Howard Stark, who I always assumed would be no more than a cameo, but was a rather pivotal character, as well as Hayley Atwell (the only British actress in the film), whose acting was on par with her looks (Megan Fox, Rosie Huntington- take note!). And there was of course the iconic cameo from Stan Lee, which was as good too see as always.

Dum-Dum Dugan and The Howling Commandos were a nice addition to the large cast, adding a different insight to the life in WWII, which is mainly seen through propaganda-eyes in the majority of the film, mirroring what was seen by the public at the time.
Steve Rodgers himself was played extremely well by Chris Evans, who fitted perfectly as the character. The skinny- Steve was really well done, superb CGI effects for that part. As I said, he is your typical pro-war type of guy and all those little hints they had at a shield were nice and didn't seem as if they were completely forced in for the hell of it. The scenes of Rodgers dressed in the propaganda suit was just exquisite, really cool that they put that in. It just seems so.. American. It also seemed like a bit of a big f*** you to the people who disliked his actual costume. Love it!

I have no problems with his suit, it defiantly fitted the era and the fact that he was in a war-zone, hence all the padding and armour.

We also saw a nice lot of Bucky, which his 'death' will hopefully play a large role in a future sequel (WINTER SOLDIER!) He was portrayed very well by Seb Stan, who, like Evens, played the character near perfectly.

All those positives aside, the score for this film was really horrible. It just gave the film the cheesy tone that it really needed to move away from. Though to be fair, anything that is to do with Captain America has to be at least a tad bit cheesy. But yeah, that really did keep distracting me from the action and what was going on.

One of the scenes in which we believe Cap's died was extremely 'uugghh'. He comes back to command post alive, rising over a hill with hundreds of people cheering all around him and where the score playing doesn't help the scene whatsoever.

But honestly, I definitly preferred Thor more. Thor had that edgier feel and you could actually sense Loki's reason's and emotions for doing what he did, rather than ol' Red Skull who was very one-dimensional.

All in all, i'd give it 3 stars. The scenery and settings defiantly make it very believable, but is contradicted by the use of futuristic weaponry, but the attention to detail more than makes up for it's flaws.

Not forgeting the nerdgasmly amazing Avengers trailer at the end!
